How to Install Wood Blinds on a French Door
Wood blinds add a level of richness to a room that is not offered by any other blind material. Even when mounting a wood blind to a French door, the décor of the entire space is uplifted. Wooden blinds are mounted to French doors via the holes through the back side of the mounting brackets. These brackets are designed to be mounted in any direction. The material that the door is made of will determine the type of fasteners that must be used to mount the brackets. Wood doors can use the hardware that is provided with the blind. If the door is metal, you will need self-tapping screws to do the job. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Be sure all of the hardware you need is included in the blind packaging and that the blinds are cut to the correct measurement.
-
2
Hold the blind up to the French door to check the correct placement of the blind. Place a level on top of the headrail and mark the ends and end corners of the blind headrail with a pencil. Mark the position of the fastener holes on the French door with a pencil.

-
3
Pre-drill the screw holes in the wooden French doors with a drill and a small drill bit, or use self-tapping screws to attach the mounting brackets to metal French doors.
-
4
Attach the right side bracket over the right side headrail mark and the left side bracket over the left side headrail mark (the brackets are side-specific). Install the center support bracket in the middle of the two side brackets (for long, wooden blinds, if the blind is sold with a center bracket).
-
5
Slide the headrail into the mounting brackets, and close the retainer clips until they audibly snap.
-
6
Slide the valence clips into the valence, and attach the valance to the headrail. Attach the tilt rod to the blind (if the blind is designed with a tilt mechanism). Open and close the blind, and tilt the louvers opening and closing in each direction to be sure the blind functions correctly.
