How to Delete MySpace History

Deleting account history is something that many users do, not only to maintain their privacy, but also to keep their accounts from becoming bogged down with saved files. Deleting the history on social networking websites, most notably MySpace, is slightly different from deleting the history from your Internet browser or email account. There are three types of history that are stored in MySpace, but they can all be deleted through the proper processes.

How to Delete MySpace Inbox and Comments History

1. Login to your MySpace account, mouse over "Mail," located in the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page, and click on "Inbox" within the drop-down menu that appears under "Mail."

2. Click on the check-mark box directly above your messages and to the left of the "Delete" button to select all messages on the page, and then click "Delete" to delete them. Repeat this process for each page within your inbox to delete all messages.

3. Click on "Sent Mail," "Drafts," "Saved," "Junk" and "Trash" and repeat the process outlined in Step 2 to delete the messages within these folders.

4. Mouse over "Profile," located in the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the page, and click on "My Comments" within the drop--down menu that appears under "Profile."

5. Click on the check-mark box directly above your comments beside "Name" to select all comments and scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click "Delete Selected" to delete all comments on the page. Repeat this process for each page of comments to delete all of your MySpace comments.

6. Click on the MySpace messenger icon found on your desktop, toolbar, program files or on the MySpace website and login to MySpace messenger using your MySpace account username and password.

7. Click on "File," scroll down, and select "Preferences" within the MySpace messenger window.

8. Click on the "Message History" tab and select "Clear All Message History Files" to delete all previously logged MySpace messenger messages.

9. Select "Do Not Save My IMs," also located within the "Message History" tab, to disable the message saving option so that no future instant messages you send or receive will be saved.

10. Click "OK" to save your preferences and exit the window to return to the MySpace messenger window.

Tips & Warnings

• Reset your messenger preferences if you ever re-download the messenger on your current computer or on a new one, as they are not automatically configured.
• Deleting your history on your computer only deletes the records from your computer; the records may still be found on others' messengers, inboxes and comment areas.
