If you need to know how to treat a sick infected plant, it's very easy. For some people who cannot have animals, plants become their pets, but the plants can become ill just as a pet can. If you notice that your plant has a fungal or perhaps a viral infection, and you would like to treat it yourself without expensive antidotes from the garden shop, here is an easy method:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Put the 1 cup of molasses in the 1 gallon warm water. Stir the mixture around until the molasses dissolves.

  2. Step 2

Pour the warm water/molasses mix into the spray bottle. Save the remainder in a plastic bottle like a gallon jug.

  3. Step 3

Take the infected plant outside if it is small enough to be moved. If it is large, then place papers on the floor to catch the drips.

  4. Step 4

Spray the tops and bottoms of the leaves and the stems. The sugar in the molasses gives the plant nourishment and the sulfur from the molasses will help destroy the fungi or the virus.

  5. Step 5

If there are indications only the leaves have an infection, a mixture of 1 gallon warm water with 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap and a tablespoon of baking soda can be sprayed on the leaves.

Tips & Warnings
  • The molasses should perk up the plant.
  • If the treatment does not work, then you may need a commercial formula to save the plant.

on 10/13/2009 Does this only work on tropical plants or can I use molasses to perk up any sick and infected plant?
