Buying fabric softener dryer sheets regularly can become quite expensive if you do a lot of laundry. You can save a great deal of money by making these sheets yourself. If you have a bottle of liquid fabric softener, some old flannel clothing and a spray bottle, you can make your own reusable fabric softener dryer sheets.

      Cut your old flannel clothing into 3-inch by 5-inch strips. Old flannel pajamas work well for this. If you don't have old clothes, use flannel sewing fabric.

      Fill your spray bottle with equal amounts of water and the liquid fabric softener. Shake well to mix the ingredients together.

      Keep your fabric strips near your dryer. When it's time to do laundry, spray a strip with the mixture in your spray bottle until it is very damp but not dripping. Toss it into the dryer with your clothing. Your laundry will come out soft and cling-free.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can reuse your cloth strips several times, but spray them before each use.

  • Shake up the mixture in the spray bottle before you spray the fabric.
