Make a Table Centerpiece with a Beach Theme

If you would like to have a table centerpiece with a beach theme for a party, reception or just to have for your home décor, here is an idea for a candle centerpiece that sets nicely in a floral centerpiece, complete with a simple beach theme.

I made ten centerpieces like the one in the picture for a wedding reception with a beach theme. But, best of all, I managed to make all ten centerpieces for less than ten dollars.

Here are the instructions on how to inexpensively make your own table centerpiece with a beach theme.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First, you will need to purchase and/or gather up all of the necessary items to make this table centerpiece. Each centerpiece consists of:

*Artificial Flowers. I found a nice arrangement that had many clusters of flowers that I found at a dollar store.
*Florist wire or any thin flexible wire.
    *Wire cutters.
*Small glass plate. I found salad plates on clearance for 20 cents each. Also consider checking thrift stores for a good price.
*Votive candles. You can find these in a set of four inexpensively and also at dollar stores. I managed to get mine on clearance for 50 cents for each four-pack.
*Glass votive holders. Once again, I managed to find ones that were being cleared out.
*Sand. You can purchase craft sand in craft stores. However, I happen to live near a lake where sand is abundant in my area.
*Small seashells. These can also be found in a craft section or craft store. I happened to have a lot on hand from a trip to Huntington Beach.
*Artificial plant with small tropical/fern leaves. This is optional; however, I feel it adds a nice accent to the centerpiece. I found one of these at a dollar store.

  2. Step 2

To start the floral centerpiece, clip off a section of the flowers to provide a small cluster of flowers. Cut about six of these clusters per centerpiece.

  3. Step 3

Next, clip off a full stem from the floral arrangement that has had all the flowers and leaves removed from it. Then take this stem and form it into a circle.

Connect the circle by tying wire to the two ends to connect them together. You can also make use of the connectors that already exist on the floral arrangement, by cutting the end portion where the flower or leaf parts slide onto the stems. These make very nice connectors for the loop.

  4. Step 4

To build on to the floral centerpiece, take one of the flower sections that you cut and place them on the loop by wrapping wire through the flower stems and then around the loop to hold the flowers in place. You will need about to wire on about six of these little flower sections. If you are also using leaf fillers, apply the same method of wrapping them onto the loop with wire in between the flower sections.

  5. Step 5

When you get all your flowers and leaves into place, lay your floral wreath on the glass plate and “fluff” up the flowers. This will hide the wires and the loop, leaving just the flowers and leaves in view for a nice floral centerpiece.

  6. Step 6

For the candle centerpiece, take the votive holder and fill it about half way up with sand. Place the candle inside the holder then fill the holder with more sand; filling around the candle, until you have as much sand as you prefer.

  7. Step 7

Complete the candle centerpiece, by adding a few tiny seashells on the top of the sand.
Now place the votive arrangement in the center of the plate and on the inside of the floral centerpiece and your table centerpiece with a beach theme is now complete!
