Step 1) Bipolar Disorder can be a very troubling illness to treat effectively. The first step in treating bipolar disorder is MEDICATION. Mood stabilizers (like Lithium), antidepressants, and antipsychotic drugs are common medications for bipolar disorder. Make sure you consult at least one doctor before entering your desired course of treatment.

Step 2) The second step in treating bipolar disorder is MEDITATION. Meditate at lease 2x a day for 20 minutes at a time. The meditation will slow you down instantly and will give you a residual slow down over time. This will allow the bipolar person to control their thoughts instead of letting the thoughts control them.

Step 3) The third step in treating bipolar disorder is having a DAILY ROUTINE. Having a daily routine of getting up at the same time, working out at the same time, eating at the same time, and eating healthy foods will temper the mood swings. Also, it's a good idea to avoid alcohol, and all non prescription drugs if diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
