Make A Gumdrop Christmas Wreath
Make A Gumdrop Christmas Wreath

A gumdrop wreath makes a great Christmas decoration! Use a color theme to blend in with your decorations, or use all colors to compliment a candy or wonderland theme!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gumdrops
  • Toothpicks (with a point at each end)
  • Styrofoam Wreath
  • Masking Tape
  • Piece of wire
  1. Step 1

Chose a color scheme before you buy your supplies. For instance, if you want red and green, it may be less expensive to buy in bulk and get a bag of red gumdrops and a bag of green gumdrops than to buy normal bags and have a lot leftover.

  2. Step 2

Cover the Styrofoam with aluminum foil.

  3. Step 3

If you plan to hang your wreath, wrap masking tape around a spot, then wrap wire around it to create a loop at the top. The masking tape will keep the wire from cutting through the Styrofoam when you hang your wreath.

  4. Step 4

Break the toothpicks in half. You'll need as many half toothpicks as you have gumdrops. Cut at a slight angle to make the end more pointy.

  5. Step 5

Stick the cut end of the toothpick toothpick straight in the bottom half of the gumdrop. The toothpick will stick out about half an inch.

  6. Step 6

Stick the other half of the toothpick into the Styrofoam until the gumdrop is flush with the foam.

  7. Step 7

Continue adding gumdrops until the Christmas wreath is covered. You can add dimension by allowing some to stick out more than others.

Tips & Warnings
  • You'll need lots of gumdrops to make a gumdrop wreath, so use the inexpensive kind.
  • Watch out for splinters when you're breaking or cutting toothpicks!
