A Christmas ball tree can make a great holiday centerpiece, mantle decoration, or compliment to your Christmas tree.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Styrofoam base, cone-shaped
  • Paper Clips
  • Christmas ornaments (chose the size based on the size of the tree you'll be making)
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  1. Step 1

Decide on a theme. Do you want your ball tree to be primary colors? Christmas colors? Pastel glass?

  2. Step 2

Gather your materials. You can get the materials at craft stores or at most large retailers. You'll need the same number of paper clips as you have ornaments.

  3. Step 3

Unfold the paper clips fully, then fold them in half.

  4. Step 4

Put the paper clip through the metal loop on the Christmas ornament. Settle the ornament in the fold so it hangs from the metal loop when you hold the ends of the paper clip.

  5. Step 5

Put hot glue down the side of the paper clip. Push the paper clip into the tree. You can also add hot glue where the ornament hits the tree.

  6. Step 6

Hold the ornament until the glue sets. Repeat this process until the cone is covered in Christmas ornaments. Your Christmas ball tree is complete!

Tips & Warnings
  • Glass balls are very popular and make lovely Christmas ball trees.
  • An alternate method of making a Christmas ball tree is to buy a garland with large beads and wind it around the Styrofoam base, hot gluing as you go. Go back and pin the ribbon down if needed.
  • Use caution when dealing with hot glue
