How to Raise Night Crawlers

People raise worms for many different reasons. Organic Gardening is one reason. Worms are a great source of fertilizer and they keep the soil nice and lose. Worms are also great for fishing. You can catch many different types of fresh water fish with worms. You can raise your own worms. Raising your own worms will save you money no matter whether you love to fish or gardening.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stir Foam Cooler
  • Soil
  • Newspaper
  • Cornbread Mix
  • Water
  1. Step 1

    You take your stir foam cooler and fill it up with soil.

  2. Step 2

    Take your out dated newspaper. Use enough newspaper to ware it’s a inch thick.

  3. Step 3

    Saturate the newspaper with water.

  4. Step 4

    Place your worms in the soil and mix them though out the soil.

  5. Step 5

    Open your box of corn bread mix. Sprinkle a fair amount of corn bread mix on top of the soil.

  6. Step 6

    Place wet newspaper on the top of the soil and the mix.

  7. Step 7

    Make holes for air on the lid with something sharp.

  8. Step 8

    Make sure the newspaper is not blocking the holes. Leave at least a half inch between the lid and newspaper.

  9. Step 9

    Place lid on top of cooler and store in a nice cool area.

  10. Step 10

    Replace newspaper as needed and feed once a week.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in a very cool place.
  • Only wet the newspaper not the soil.
  • Do not store outside. The ants will kill your worms.
