Go to a site that searches a national database of registered sex offenders, such as Family Watchdog at http://www.familywatchdog.us/Default.asp or http://www.nsopw.gov/Core/OffenderSearchCriteria.aspx, or visit the U.S. Department of Justice: Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website at http://www.nsopw.gov/Core/Portal.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 to find a registry for your local area.

Enter in your street name, city, state and ZIP code, and click "Search."

View a map of your area. Click on a red square to bring up additional information about the sex offender who is registered at that address, such as her name, address and most the time a photo for identification purposes. Also provided are tab with such categories as "alias" (other names they went by), "convictions" (information on the sexual charges), and "descriptions" (including date of birth, height, eye color, hair, tattoos, race, etc).
