Fire ant stings are incredibly itchy and burn terribly. Fire Ants use their mouth to grab their victim and inject their stinger and release venom. The site of a fire ant bite and sting is a very red welt which will then develop a white blister on top, next to it you will find 2 very tiny puncture marks. If you are allergic to fire ant bites and stings seek immediate medical attention.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wash the bite and sting site with an antibacterial soap and cool water.

  2. Step 2

Raise the area that was stung above your heart if possible.

  3. Step 3

Take an over the counter antihistamine such as Benedryl. Apply fresh Aloe to cool some of the burning sensation from the fire ant sting.

  4. Step 4

Put ice on the sting sites. Be sure to put a thin towel over your skin before applying ice to protect your skin from further damage. Leave the ice on for 15 to 20 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Apply white vinegar to the stings with a piece of cotton. Dab the white vinegar on. Do not rub it in. Rubbing can cause the blister to break and increase the chances of a secondary infection.

  6. Step 6

Take an over the counter pain reliever such as Tylenol or Advil to relieve the pain associated with a fire ant bite and sting.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not intentionally break the blisters. If they are broken accidently, apply an over the counter antibiotic cream such as Neosporin or Bacitracin.
