Want to learn how to braid? Follow these simple steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • String or Hair
  • Hair Brush
  • Ponytail holder
  1. Step 1

If you are braiding hair, make sure to brush the knots completely out of the hair.

  2. Step 2

Use three strings or divide the hair in three even parts. If you are using hair, try to get three even parts, if you mess up, just brush it out and try again.

  3. Step 3

Hold the center strand and the right strand in the left hand and pull taut. Hold the right strand in the right hand.

  4. Step 4

Lift the right strand and place it in between the two strings in your left hand.

  5. Step 5

Lift the new center strand under the left strand.

  6. Step 6

Pull the same strand over the left strand (the one you just went under). The strand should now be in the center again.

  7. Step 7

Perform the same pattern using the strand on the right.

  8. Step 8

Continue until you run out of string or yarn, secure with a ponytail holder or a knot for string.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are just learning to braid hair, you might want to try with yarn first.
  • Using different colored yarn may help you keep them straight in your mind.
  • If you mess up just take it out and try again.
