How to Eliminate Mildew Smell in Clothes

Things You'll Need

• Brush
• Measuring cup
• White vinegar

Instructions

1. Examine the clothes for mildew growth before washing. To effectively remove mildew smell in clothes, you need to remove any actual mildew growth. Take the clothing outside and use a brush to remove any loose mildew.

2. Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar into the detergent cup and wash the clothes without detergent. The vinegar smell will dissipate once the clothing is completely dry. However, you may rewash with detergent if desired.

3. Smell the clothing after washing to make sure the mildew smell is gone. If not, repeat the process. If it is gone, dry as normal.

Tips & Warnings

• Dry your clothes immediately after being washed to prevent mildew and mold growth that causes odor.
