Your wedding dress is the one of the most memorable pieces of clothing you will ever wear. Why keep it in a box where you’ll never see it? You can transform the most beautiful dress of your life into an object you’ll treasure – A boudoir chair!

The process is easier than you might imagine. A wedding dress boudoir chair is a romantic piece to decorate your bedroom with and you’ll wake each morning with a visual reminder of the most enchanting day of your life. Try it yourself or take the idea to a seamstress and transform your gown today.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ribbon
  • Chair
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape
  • Pattern Paper
  • Hot Glue

Make a paper pattern for each part of the chair you want to cover. Use a white fabric for the base covering. This will be the base layer that you then add parts of your wedding dress to.

You can use the lace embellishments from your dress on the top and back side of the chair. Cut them out separately and lay down the pattern on paper first to make sure you like it. Then sew or hot glue the pieces directly to the chair.

The bottom of your wedding dress is perfect for turning into a chair cover skirt. Measure from the chair seat to the bottom of the floor for length and allow extra length to create a poof at the bottom. Then take a ruffler attachment and put it on your sewing machine. It will make an even ruffle. You can hot glue the ruffle around the chair seat and cover the seam with a wide ribbon. Transforming your special gown is a great wedding dress preservation alternative.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan out your design in advance with a paper pattern.
  • Look at different sewing patterns to get ideas from.
  • Consult with a professional seamstress if you want a chair slipcover.
  • Be careful when working with hot glue because it can burn your fingers. Use eyebrow tweezers to pick up and place the lace pieces.
