Santa Cinnamon Stick Pins

If you like the smell of cinnamon, you'll love these little Santa Pins. They really are made with whole cinnamon sticks and they're very easy to make. Sell them at Christmas Bazaars or create a wonderful smelling Holiday centerpiece.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • whole cinnamon sticks
  • craft paints
  • white glue
  • costume jewelry pin back
  • cotton ball
  1. Step 1

Paint the entire front and sides of the cinnamon stick with bright red paint. Leave the center back unpainted. Let the red paint dry.
Paint a white spot at the top edge of the stick about the size of a large pea. Then paint a large white oval in the center of the stick.

  2. Step 2

Pull a white cotton ball apart. Spread white glue on the small white spot. This will be the ball on Santa's hat.
Spread white glue on the white oval, with a little extra at the bottom. This will be Santa's beard.

  3. Step 3

Stick small pieces of cotton onto the glue spots. Put it around the edges of the oval and a little extra at the bottom.
When the white glue has dried, paint the cotton with white craft paint.

  4. Step 4

Paint the inside of the oval with light pink or tan flesh tone paint to form the face.
Paint two small black dots for the eyes. Make pink cheeks and add a small red line for the mouth.
Paint 2 tiny white lines just above the mouth to create the mustache.

  5. Step 5

When all the paint has dried, spray it lightly with a spray varnish or glaze.
Use hot glue or jewelry glue to attach the pin back to the back of the cinnamon stick.

Tips & Warnings
  • Only a small amount of cotton is needed. You could use the cotton from a pill bottle or remove the cotton from a couple cotton swabs.
