The damp places in your home can produce a lot musty smell. This musty smell can be there in the cupboards or in the carpet. Imagine taking out the clothes from the cupboard and find the musty smell in your clothes. There are several ways to get rid of musty smell in your home. Read on to find out how to get rid of musty smell.

  1. Step 1

    The first step is to take all your clothes that are there in your cupboard and hang them out in the sun for some time.

  2. Step 2

    Then buy some white vinegar and put it in a dish. Keep this dish in each cupboard as well as in each room of your house. If you cannot get white vinegar then use the baking soda.

  3. Step 3

    Close the doors and the windows of the rooms for about 24 hours so that the vinegar smell is there in the house.

  4. Step 4

    After 24 hours open the windows and the musty smell will go out along with the smell of the vinegar.

  5. Step 5

    Find out the clothes which have the mold patches on them and apply a lemon solution on them. For the lemon solution use some lemon juice and mix it waiter to create a lemon solution.

  6. Step 6

    Check your bathroom if they have mold formation which gives the musty smell. Use the hydrochloric acid to get rid of mold in the bathroom.

  7. Step 7

    Once the smell has gone out then use air fresheners with the scent to freshen up the rooms and have a nice scent in the room.

  8. Step 8

    Buy a dehumidifier for your home as that will maintain the desired humidity in your home and will be able to prevent the musty smell in the home. In fact it will eliminate the root cause of the musty smell that is the dampness by controlling the humidity levels.
