Natural fleas collars are a great way to keep your dog flea free without exposing him to chemicals that could harm him. They are also less expensive than commercial flea collars and can be reused over and over.

Essential Oil Collar

Things You'll Need

  • Distilled water
  • Essential oil
  • Bowl
  • Nylon collar

Step 1

Pour 4 ounces of distilled water into a bowl. Make sure the bowl is big enough for the collar to fit in. Add 20 drops of essential oil to the water and stir. Some good oils to repel fleas include lavender, lemongrass, peppermint and rosemary.

Step 2

Place the collar in the bowl, pushing it down to ensure all sections are in the water. Allow the collar to soak for at least 20 minutes under water.

Step 3

Remove the collar from the water and lay it on a flat surface. Allow the collar to dry before placing it on your dog.

Step 4

Soak the collar in a fresh essential oil mixture every two weeks to continue repelling fleas.

Essential Oil Bandana

Things You'll Need

  • Cedar or lavender essential oil
  • Water
  • Eyedropper
  • Bandana

Step 1

Pour 3 teaspoons of water into a small bowl. Distilled water is best.

Step 2

Add in 3 drops of essential oil. Use either lavender or cedar to repel fleas. Mix well. This is not safe for cats if you use lavender.

Step 3

Add 5 to 10 drops of the liquid on a bandana, spreading them far apart. Tie the bandana around your dog's neck for a fashionable and effective flea collar.

Step 4

Refresh the bandana with more of the essential oil mixture once per week to keep the bandana effective.
