Making homemade greeting cards is a hobby that many people enjoy as a way to send holiday greetings, "thank you" notes, invitations or birthday cards. The decorating of the cards is the crafty part, but sometimes it can take just as much time and effort to come up with a message to use in the card. Verses or poems can be used to add heartfelt or even comical messages to your cards. There are many options for verses already in print and available for you to use.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with internet access
  • Poetry books
  • Printer
  • Scissors or pinking shears

  1. Step 1

Search the internet for poems that fit your occasion, or use one of the links below. If you have books of poetry, find a poem or verse from the books to use.

  2. Step 2

Type the poem into your word processing software, or copy and paste it from a web site. Change the font or point size to your preference by clicking the "format." Choose "font" from the drop down menu and adjust the style and size.

  3. Step 3

Print the poem or verse with your printer. Cut it out with regular scissors -- or pinking shears for a decorative edge. Use white glue to affix the verse or poem to your card stock and allow it to dry before sending.
