How to Make Wedding Pew Bows
The aisle is a focal point during the bridal party's walk to the altar, so make it pretty with pew bows. You can hook them over the ends of each pew on the aisle side, tying your wedding colors in to the church's decor. Special hooks that will not damage the pews are available at craft, floral and wedding supply stores.
Things You'll Need
- Tulle roll
- 2-inch-wide ribbon
- Scissors
- Twist ties
- Silk flowers
- Glue
- Pew hooks
Instructions

1
Cut a 10-foot length of tulle from the 6-inch-high roll of tulle.
-
2
Fold the tulle in half, then fold that in half two more times. Wrap a foil-covered twist tie around the center of the folded tulle.
-
-
3
Fluff the tulle out, pulling the loops into the shape of a circle. Pull carefully so the loops of tulle don't slip out from the twist tie.
-
4
Cut two lengths of ribbon to 2 feet in length. Fold each length in half and secure the ends together with clear tape to make a loop.
-
5
Reposition the loops so the taped side is hidden on the bottom. Place the ribbon loops on top of the tulle circle, crossing over each other to form an X.
-
6
Fold a second 10-foot length of tulle the same as the first, secure it and then pull into a circle. Lay it on top of the first layer of tulle and ribbon.
-
7
Make two more ribbon loops and position them on top of the bow layers in a second X shape. Rotate them so they fill in the gaps between the first set of ribbons.
-
8
Wrap a second twist tie around the center of the entire stack of tulle and ribbon. Twist the tie closed on the back of the stack to secure all layers together.
-
9
Glue a silk rose or other flower to the center of the pew bow. Loop the twist tie over a pew hook and it's ready to display.

Tips & Warnings
Use real flowers by placing the stems inside a floral water pick. Cut a hole in the center of your bows and slide the water pick through. Use two different colors or textures of ribbon to add visual interest. Use the bows on the back of chairs instead of pews. Attach a rubber band or ponytail holder to the twist tie and slip this over the top post on one corner of the chair back.
