How to Detect Fake Coach Bags
Discount stores and street vendors may sell inexpensive bags with the Coach label on them, but that does not always mean these bags are authentic. Whether you are purchasing a Coach bag on the street or on the Internet, there are several ways to tell whether these retailers are selling the real thing or a rip-off. Examine the seaming where two pieces of fabric come together. Does the pattern match up from one piece of fabric to the other, or does it cut off in the center? The patterns on authentic Coach bags always match up, even if several pieces of fabric are used to make the bag.

Determine whether the fabric used to make the purse is authentic. If the Coach bag uses the traditional "C" pattern that Coach has made famous, examine how the "C's" line up. On inauthentic bags, the "C's" may be facing in all directions, with no discernible pattern. On authentic Coach fabric, two "C's" will always face in the same direction in a row. So although the "C's" are facing in all directions, they are facing in all directions in groups of two.

Look carefully at the fabric to determine whether the letter printed in the pattern is in fact a "C." Many faux bag makers get away with creating fabric that looks almost identical by changing the letter to an "O" or a "G" to try to fool their customers into buying an inauthentic bag.

Examine the dust bag the purse came in. Authentic Coach purses come in dark brown dust bags with "Coach Est. 1941" written in white on the the bottom right area of the bag in capital letters.

Look closely at the zipper to determine that it is a YKK zipper. If the zipper is a YKK, it will be printed on the front of the slider. Coach uses only YKK zippers for its bags, so if your bag has a different type of zipper, chances are it is not a real Coach bag.
