Instructions

    • 1

Fill the smaller hurricane vases one-third full with colored (or regular) sand.

    • 2

Fill the large hurricane vases halfway with water, and carefully place colored or clear stones in the vase. The stones should sink to the bottom of the vase and be covered with water.

    • 3

Fill the smaller hurricane vases with decorative items associated with the theme of your wedding. You might add shells and a paper umbrella if it's a beach or tropical wedding or feathers and fake flowers if that follows your color scheme. For a princess wedding, add some prince and princess figurines then wrap the outside of the vase with twinkle lights.

    • 4

      Insert the candle(s).

    • 5

Place a large hurricane vase in the center of the table, and place four smaller hurricane vases around it. Tie ribbons around the smaller hurricane vases if you like. Add twinkle lights or other decor to the table surrounding the hurricane wedding centerpiece to create a more dramatic look.

Tips & Warnings

  • Another option for the larger hurricane vases is to use pieces of fruit instead of stones. Slices of lemon and lime look great, as do whole oranges, limes and even berries.

  • Look through magazines and online to find photos of centerpieces you like and duplicate them.

  • Leave at least 4 inches from the top of the candle to the top of the container and at least 2 inches between the decorations and the top of the candle.
