How to Open a Locker Lock
Most school lockers have combination locks on them, but they can often be hard to open. Opening new lockers can be challenging because you need to get the code perfect. Learning how to quickly open your locker door is essential, especially in high schools that might not give you much time between classes. Here's how to open a combination lock at school.

1
Turn the locker dial several times to the right to ensure it is ready for a new combination to be entered. Turn it enough times so there's no question of its resetting.
-
2
Turn the dial to the right a full turn and stop at the first number in the combination.

-
3
From the first number, turn the knob left--making sure you pass zero on the dial--and stop at the second number of your combination.
-
4
From the second number, turn the knob right until you get to the third number. You do not need a full turn on the third number. You should hear some sort of click or snag on the knob when you hit the third number.
-
5
Pull the latch up, and if your lock is not attached to the locker, pull the lock out before you pull up on the latch. Your locker will most likely open, but if it doesn't there are some tricks you can use to get it open.
Troubleshooting
-
6
Try putting in your combination again. A mistake may have been made the first time. Always try it again if it doesn't work the first time.
-
7
If it doesn't open the second time, from the third number, turn the knob slightly to the right and wait for a clicking noise or a snag on the dial. If it opens when you turn it right a few clicks, this means you were given the wrong combination. Your new third number is the one that the dial is pointing to when you finally get your locker open.
-
8
Jiggle the latch if it still doesn't open. A lot of times, the locker is old and rusted and needs a bit of coaxing to open.
-
9
If none of these work, tell maintenance staff from your school or an administrator that your locker is defective. They will fix the problem for you.
