How to Remove a Double-Pane Window

Proven energy savers, double-pane windows also simplify the process of cleaning and maintenance. You can tilt a window to clean the glass, or remove it completely for maintenance, quickly and easily without any special tools.

How to Remove a Double-Pane Window

1. Facing the window from the interior side, unlock the window. Find the release tabs on the top outer sides of the bottom section of the window.

2. Open the window about halfway. Reach up to the top of the window where you located the release tabs, and slide them both inward toward the center of the window.

3. Gently pull out at the top of the window while holding the release tabs. Carefully allow it to table and lay flat in front of you.

4. Hold the window on each side in the flat position and slowly twist the window, lowering the right side and raising the left side in the track. This will free the bottom window pins from the track and separate the window from the frame.
