Things You'll Need:
- Computer running Windows
- Microsoft Word
-
Step 1
Run Microsoft Word. In the Main Menu, click on File, and select Page Setup.
-
Step 2
In the Page Setup window, click on the Paper Size tab, and select Landscape for the orientation. Don’t hit OK yet.
-
Step 3
To maximize the space for adding information, click on the Margins tab. Enter 0.5 for the left and right margins to create half inch margins on the left and right side.
-
Step 4
In the Main Menu, click on Format, and select Columns.
-
Step 5
Select Two Columns. Notice how the ruler margins split. A greeting card example will demonstrate the use of two columns.
-
Step 6
To go to the right side, hit the return key until you are taken to the second column.
-
Step 7
When you are at the second column, type in text and other objects if desired. In this example, a clipart and a box drawing (with no fill) was added around the text. This will be the inside of a greeting card.
-
Step 8
Save your work. For example, call the file "greeting card2" since this is the inside of the greeting card.
-
Step 9
Create a new document and repeat all the step for making another 2 column document.
-
Step 10
On the second column of the new document, enter text and other objects for the front of the greeting card.
-
Step 11
Now you can print the two documents separately to assemble the card.
-
Step 12
As an alternate way to assemble card, print one document in heavy bonded or light cardboard on one side. Later, use the same paper and re-insert the paper so that the printing can be done on the reverse side.

on 10/12/2009 Great post! Word can be a very creative tool! Another great way to create greeting cards is with templates. Check out some examples here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT101043221033.aspx
