Real estate agents (sales licensees)must be licensed by the state's Department of Real Estate. The process is similar for each state, with some major differences. For one thing, real estate laws vary from state to state. In some states, real estate transactions require the participation of an attorney. That is not the case in Arizona, where a licensed real estate agent is able to prepare a sales contract and complete the transaction without the assistance of an attorney.         Celebrate your 18th birthday. There is an age requirement for sales licensees. Before becoming a licensed agent, you must be at least 18 years of age.

        Enroll in real estate school and complete 90 hours. The school must be approved by the Arizona Department of Real Estate and the classes must be approved by the Department for fulfilling the licensing requirements.
