Things You'll Need:
- herbs
- cloth
- ribbon, string or yarn
-
Step 1
To make your sachet you will need some dried herbs, a natural fiber cloth such as felt, wool or cotton and some string, ribbon or yarn.
-
Step 2
Cut the cloth into a square from four to nine inches across. If you will be carrying the sachet with you, make it smaller than if you will be placing it in your car or home.
Place a handful or less of your dried herbs on the center of the cloth.
Gather up the ends and tie them firmly with a ribbon, cotton twine or wool yarn. -
Step 3
If you will be using your sachet as a personal charm, hold it in your hand and squeeze it gently to release its fragrance then keep it in your pocket.
If your sachet will be used in your house or car, squeeze it to release the fragrance and replace it every three months as the fragrance will tend to fade over time. -
Step 4
Here’s a Yule-time Sachet recipe to get you started:
7 parts Juniper
4 parts Cinnamon
4 parts Allspice
4 parts Ginger
4 parts Caraway
2 parts Nutmeg
2 parts Rosemary
2 parts Lemon peel
2 parts Orange peel
1 part Clove
1 part Bay
2 pinches Orris root
Mix thoroughly and place on center of a red or green cloth, tie with a festive ribbon. This makes a nice stocking stuffer.
