Make an Earthquake Cake
Make an Earthquake Cake

Earthquake cake is a gooey combination of coconuts, pecans and cream cheese in a German chocolate cake. It's like an upside down cake and cheese cake brownie combined.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Grease a 9 X 13 inch cake pan.

  2. Step 2

Gather and measure the ingredients for the cake:
1 box of German chocolate cake mix batter, prepared according to directions on box
    3 ounces of flaked coconut
    1 cup of chopped pecans
8 ounces of softened cream cheese
1 stick of butter or margarine
    1 pound of powdered sugar

  3. Step 3

Spread out the pecans and coconut into the bottom of the cake pan.

  4. Step 4

Pour the German chocolate cake mix batter onto of the nuts and coconut. Pour slowly.

  5. Step 5

Cream together the cream cheese and butter.

  6. Step 6

Mix the creamed mixture with the powdered sugar.

  7. Step 7

Spread the creamed, powdered sugar mixture on top of the cake batter. The mixture will be thick and hard to spread.

  8. Step 8

Use a butter knife to cut the powdered sugar mixture into the cake batter. Make lines in all directions.

  9. Step 9

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes.

  10. Step 10

Serve the cake out of the cake pan. It can't be transferred, because it's so gooey.
