Twitter can be highly effective as a traffic generation tool, to your site or an affiliate site, by following these simple techniques.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Related Username:
The username you choose should be relevant to the topic in which you are driving traffic. This allows for users searching specific topics to locate your profile.

  2. Step 2

DO NOT Follow Others Just To Get Followers:
Unfortunately, many Twitter users have yet to figure out how to use twitter as a marketing tool. So, they go on a following rampage and start following anyone and everyone to try to get followers. Now, if your goal is simply to have a huge following, that’s great. But if you are trying to reach a target audience interested in your tweets, this is not the way to do it.
If you want quality followers, who may actually look at your tweets, let them follow you because they really want to. That's not to say don’t EVER follow anyone, but only those you truly have an interest in.

  3. Step 3

    Post Regularly To 3 Accounts:
To get a consistent flow of traffic to your site, you will need three Twitter accounts (you'll need three email accounts for this). By posting to three different (but related) accounts, once in the early morning, once around lunch and then again late evening, the traffic flows smoothly. When posting only once each day, you will only get one short burst and then less likely to receive much more throughout the day.

  4. Step 4

    Use Good Descriptions:
A few words and a link is going to make it hard to get clicks. You need to focus on a well written description (like you would an article headline) to generate maximum clicking on your links. Use short URLs when necessary to allow for as much information as possible.

  5. Step 5

Keep Posts Relevant To Your Site Content:
Keep the information on your Twitter account relevant to your site. Try not to post off-subject information unless you are doing so for a specific, rare occasion, such as an announcement.
