How to Avoid Being Disconnected to the Internet From Phone Calls
Internet disconnections involving the telephone are almost always caused by cordless phones in a house or business using a digital subscriber line (DSL) or wireless (Wi-Fi) modem to connect to the Internet. Wireless Internet signals work on the same bandwidth as radio frequencies for cordless phones. When the phone is activated and the call picked up, the signal to the wireless Internet connection for your computer becomes scrambled and cuts off. But this problem can be prevented.

Tips & Warnings
If you use a telephone regularly near your computer, try plugging an ethernet cable into the computer and connecting the other end directly to the ethernet jack on the Internet router. Ethernet jacks are the same shape as a telephone jack, only wider.
Do not install a filter between the router and the wall jack, as this will virtually eliminate the wireless signal produced by the router.
