How to Build a Mobile Dog-Grooming Vehicle
Dog grooming is a profession in which you are responsible for the care and upkeep of dogs. Dog groomers wash, cut, shave, comb, and clip hair and nails for dogs. They can also apply fragrances, paint nails and attach ribbons for the dog owner's pleasure. A mobile dog-grooming vehicle helps your business grow by allowing you to provide services wherever they are needed.

1
Purchase a van. Make sure it is in good running order and that there are no problems with exhaust. Clean it out and remove back seats and any fixtures in the van. Install indoor/outdoor carpeting on the bottom on the interior of the van. Cover any windows from the inside out with paint or an acrylic window covering.
-
2
Install a groomer's table along one side of the van. The table should be up against the front seats, so that it is what you see when you open the back door.
-
-
3
Install safety harnesses above the groomer's table. They should be attached to the ceiling of the van and should be adjustable. Harnesses should be short enough to prevent dogs from jumping off the table once they are secured.
-
4
Install a shelving and drawer system along one side of the interior of the van. You want at least one shelf on the top row. The shelf should have a lip on it so that things cannot fall off when you drive. The rest of the side of the van should include drawers no larger than 1 foot deep.
-
5
Put grooming tools, such as brushes, combs, ribbons, fragrances and nail clippers, into the drawers. Fill the shelves with bathing tools. Because there will be no running water in your van, have spray and dry shampoos on your shelves.
-
6
Stock your drawers and shelves with towels, nail polishes, dog treats and a receptacle for garbage.
-
7
Buy a small indoor/outdoor vacuum and attach it to the other wall of the van to clean up messes when you are finished with each dog.
-
8
Purchase a cash box and stock it. Buy a credit-card reader and hook it up to your bank or credit-card account.
-
9
Paint or affix your business name and logo on the sides, back or front of the van.
