How to Highlight Brown Hair
Highlights add depth to hair without a drastic or full-color change. Achieving the desired look is somewhat more difficult with darker natural shades as they often require bleaching or stripping prior to the coloring process. Does this Spark an idea?

- Hair bleaching kit
- Hair coloring
- Frosting cap
- Medium-gauge crochet needle

Highlighting Darker Hair

Place a frosting cap on your head and secure the strap under your chin. With your crochet needle, pull sections of hair through all the holes in the cap.

Prepare the hair bleaching product according to directions and apply to the exposed hair. Leave on the hair the suggested amount of time.

Rinse the bleaching agent from your hair thoroughly, leaving your frosting cap in place. Continue rinsing while gently lifting the cap away from your head. Allow plenty of water to reach the scalp.

Allow hair to air dry.

Prepare your hair color according to the directions. Apply the color to your strands and allow to remain on the hair for the directed time.

Remove the frosting cap and rinse hair until the water runs clear. Style as desired.

Tips & Warnings
For fewer highlights, only pull hair through the top openings in the frosting cap. Deep condition your hair two days after coloring.
Hair bleach can irritate the scalp. If burning or pain occur during the bleaching process, rinse immediately.
