How to Tell a Real Juicy Purse

Juicy Couture was started by two women in California in the 1990s. In the beginning, this duo manufactured only simple yet high-end track suits and other terry cloth items. After the overwhelming success of these track suits and accessories, the brand began to expand. Now, the company makes luxury goods for men, women and children and has expanded to include purses, shoes, wallets, costume jewelry and a full range of clothing.

Instructions

1. Examine your Juicy purse stitching and details. If you see rips or loose stitching, it is probably a fake.

2. Look closely at the zipper. An authentic Juicy Couture purse has a zipper with a J-shaped pull. Purses with any other zipper are fake.

3. Take price into consideration. Juicy bags retail for $150 and up. If the bag is going for under $50, it is probably a fake.

4. Ask for a model or reference number, which should be located on the sales receipt or inside the bag. Call 1-888-908-1160 (Juicy's customer care line) and ask if the company has ever carried an item with such a reference number.

5. Examine the inside of the purse. Authentic Juicy purses have cotton lining, while fakes will often have felt-like lining.

6. Check the wrapping. Authentic Juicy items are never wrapped in plastic.

Tips & Warnings

• Be wary of sellers from Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa. Although this doesn't guarantee a fake, it might be a tip-off if other indicators are present. Do not be fooled by tags, which can easily be faked.
