How to Get Rid of Redness in Rosacea
Rosacea is a skin condition causing red, inflamed cheeks and sometimes forehead and chin. It can also cause pus-filled bumps on the skin. Although rosacea is a stubborn and often frustrating illness, it can be managed and even cured by over-the-counter remedies and treatment from a dermatologist.

1
See a dermatologist. Your general practitioner can recommend a dermatologist in your area if you don't have one already. He or she can recommend a prescription treatment for rosacea, including topical antibiotics such as metronidazole, oral antibiotics such as tetracycline, and isotretinoin, an oral medication used in severe cases of rosacea.
-
2
Wear sunscreen with 15 SPF or higher on your face at all times. The best facial sunscreen is oil free and designed specifically for the sensitive skin on your face.

3
Avoid touching your face. Rosacea will be made more irritated, and ultimately, more red, if it is constantly being touched. Only touch your face when you are applying sunscreen, cleansing your face, or applying medication.
-
4
Protect your face in cold weather. Cold weather can irritate rosacea, and if you find your face is particularly red during the wintertime, wear a scarf or face mask to avoid skin damage from the elements.

5
Get laser surgery as a last resort. Your dermatologist will recommend laser surgery if no other options are working. Laser surgery works to reduce the appearance of enlarged blood vessels that are making your face appear redder than usual. Laser surgery may require several treatments and can take a few weeks to heal completely.
