People with naturally tight curls can get bored wearing their hair in the same style every day. They might also find that the curls can get frizzy and unmanageable. One solution is to straighten the curly hair. Straightening curly hair gives you several different hairstyling options. When unwashed, the hair might remain straight for up to four days. Using the right products and tools can help you achieve the desired look.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hair straightening cream
  • Hair smoothing serum
  • Blow dryer with nozzle
  • Paddle brush
  • Flat iron
  • Fine-toothed comb
  • Hair clip
  1. Step 1

    Wet the hair completely.

  2. Step 2

Dry your hair with a towel to remove excess water. The hair should be damp but not soaked before adding a hair product.

  3. Step 3

Apply hair straightening cream from the roots of your hair to the tips. This product helps loosen the curls and reduce the frizz in your hair.

  4. Step 4

Use a hair dryer with a nozzle to rough dry the hair. Use your fingers rather than a brush to lightly loosen the curls. Focus primarily on the roots of the hair at this time.

  5. Step 5

Use a hair clip to separate 1-inch sections of the hair.

  6. Step 6

Focus on one section at a time and blow dry the hair with a paddle brush until it is completely dry. Get the hair as straight and smooth as possible with the hair dryer and brush before using a flat iron. This makes the flat ironing process much easier.

  7. Step 7

Pull the hair straight and direct the nozzle down the section of hair. This not only straightens the hair but also brings out shine.

  8. Step 8

Turn on your flat iron to high heat.

  9. Step 9

Squeeze a few drops of hair smoothing serum into your hands.

  10. Step 10

Rub your hands together to coat your hands with the product.

  11. Step 11

Comb your hands throughout the hair to evenly distribute the serum. This adds shine and protects the hair before flat ironing it.

  12. Step 12

Separate 1-inch sections of hair to flat iron.

  13. Step 13

Use a fine-toothed comb to comb through the section while you flat iron. This helps straighten any curls that were not smoothed with the hair dryer.

  14. Step 14

Apply a few drops of hair smoothing serum to the hair to finish the look.
