How to Prepare for the N-CLEX RN Exam
The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) is a test developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Graduate nurses have to pass the NCLEX-RN examination in order to practice as registered nurses in the United States. The exam measures the ability of the candidate to perform safely and effectively as a newly licensed, entry-level nurse. To take the NCLEX exam, you must show that you have successfully graduated from an accredited nursing school.

Design a learning plan. Determine how much time you can study each day. Estimate how many pages you can cover in that time. Make a schedule showing which chapter or chapters you will study on each day. Include time for practicing NCLEX-RN-style questions on the computer daily.

Evaluate yourself periodically. Before you start reading any chapter, take the pretest for that chapter. This will help you recognize your weak points so you can focus on those areas when you come across them in your NCLEX-RN review book. Take the posttest that comes after each chapter. If your posttest fails to show improvement, review the chapter before continuing.
