How to Clean Printer Ink Cartridge With Boiling Water
Refilling empty ink cartridges with new ink is a simple way to save money. However, there are some complications that come along with it. One of the most common problems people come across is the printer heads drying up, which in turn prevents the fresh ink from coming out. There are products made especially for this problem, but the are often expensive and unnecessary. Printer ink cartridges can be cleaned and restored with a few items that are likely already in your house.

3
Pour the boiling water into a container about a half-inch deep. The container must be large enough to hold the ink cartridge. Do not use a thin plastic container as the boiling water may melt it.
-
4
Add half a teaspoon of ammonia to the water.
-
5
Place the ink cartridge, with nozzles facing down, into the water. Let it soak for two minutes and then dab it on a paper towel. If ink is visible on the paper towel, the cartridge is unclogged. If ink is not visible, repeat the process again until ink comes out.
