How to Fix Sound Devices
Some sound device problems include no audio at all, scratchy, distorted noises, low hums, and static skipping. The causes could be many, due to the variety of computer and parts manufacturers and their driver models. For everything to work correctly, every assembled piece must be compatible. Since our ears are used to clarity, we quickly realize when what is heard does not come across just right. There is a way to troubleshoot issues ranging from the simplex to the complex in the irreplaceable audible world of sound.

Right-click the "Volume" icon located at the bottom taskbar on your computer and then select "Open Volume Control."

Uncheck each "Mute" box in all categories and move all sliders up to their highest level. Close out of the dialog box. If the sound issue is not solved, proceed to Step 3.

Right-click the "Volume Control" icon and then select "Adjust Audio Properties."

Click the "Volume" tab and move the "Device Volume" slider up to the highest level.

Click "Speaker Volume" located in the "Speaker Settings" section and move the sliders up to their highest level. (Note: Check the box "Move all slide indicators at the same time" to expedite this action.) Click "OK" to exit the dialog box. If the sound issue is not solved, proceed to Step 6.

Right-click the "Volume Control" icon and select "Adjust Audio Properties."

Click the "Hardware" tab and then select a device from the "Devices" list box and then click "Troubleshoot." Follow the recommendations until the issue is solved.

Repeat Steps 6 and 7 and troubleshoot all sound devices until the issue is solved.
