How to Create Themes for the K700I
Once you buy a K700i, you will be captivated by the default features in the phone. When the default options begin to pall, you may want to try changing them to suit your tastes. One such item that most users like to change is the themes. Creating themes for the K700i takes some concentration. You need to be familiar with an image editing utility as you will need to change the dimensions of existing pictures to suit the dimensions of the K700i display screen. You also need to know how to superimpose pictures using the image editing utility. You will also need to download the Sony Ericsson Themes Creator software. This is available for free download from the manufacturer's website. Once you have done this, you are ready to create your own theme for the K700i.

Install the software files and picture on your computer. You need a picture to be used as a theme and this picture must be in the .jpg format. Let us call the picture file MyPic.jpg. You need to use the image editing facility to generate pictures of different dimensions and save these as MyPic (Width x Height).jpg. You will need to generate three pictures of the following dimensions in pixels: 176x176, 176x26 and 176x18.

Open the Themes Creator Software. Select the K700i. Select the "Standby" tab. Press "Import" and select the 176x176 file.

Select the "Softkeys" and "Status Bar" tabs in turn. Import the 176x26 and 176x18 files respectively. Store this theme in a folder.

Use the image editing software to superimpose the picture onto the Sony Ericsson default menu icon shadow picture. You may need to set some parameters to do this satisfactorily. Save this file as MyPicFinal (176x176).jpg.

Repeat Step 1 but use the picture MyPicFinal(176x176).jpg instead. Save this theme.

Connect the USB cable to the computer. Connect the other end of the cable to the phone.

Open a file browser window. Copy the new theme to the "Themes" folder of the phone.

Disconnect the phone from the computer. Press the "Menu" key on the phone and select "Themes." Your new theme should appear in the display. Select this theme and apply it.
