Weddings can cost a lot of money we all know that. If you dont have a huge budget there are ways to save money.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • budget
  1. Step 1

One of the best things any couple can do is go to wedding events. A lot of cities have them at some point within a year and these shows or expos can save you money. Almost everyone offers some kind of discount there. For example, my wife and I got 20% off our photographers regular rate. The one thing about going to these events is a lot of them want you to book that day but not in all cases.

  2. Step 2

Another valuable tool is getting a wedding planner. They will usually offer different packages according to the services you want but trust me it is well worth it. Wedding planners will pay for themselves. They are connected in many ways that you are not. Most businesses when they hear wedding they hike up the price. Let a wedding planner negotiate for you especially since they know who the good venders are.

  3. Step 3

Look for deals on craigslist! People sell paper lanterns and all kinds of decorations on there. Look everyday as wedding items sell very fast. If you dont find for sale what you are looking for then go to Hobby Lobby or a Garden Ridge if you have any.

  4. Step 4

Keep the items you want and sell the rest. You can get some money back that you spent if you sell the things that others can use.

  5. Step 5

When you choose your honeymoon resort/hotel look to see if they offer a registry. If so, by donations made to your registry your room can be upgraded, spa treatments paid for, or romantic dinners. Also, look for packages for honeymooners because they can be complimentary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Photographers- not a lot of photographers give you the copy rights to your own photos so if that is important then ask. Some give it for free while others cost extra.
  • You can save a lot of money by buying plastic plates, cups, and utensils. Who really wants to wash all those dishes.
  • Do as much work as you can. Having a wedding planner is great but the more they do the more it can cost.
  • Get involved and do not procrastinate! The more you have done the easier it will be on your special day.
  • Keep an excel spreadsheet of the budget inputing costs of purchases made.
  • Make sure that if you decide to get a wedding planner that their professional. Our planner used her kids as staff to help decorate. This detail was left out and made her not very reliable the day of.
