Vacation Rentals

There are many sources to advertise vacation rentals. The question is how do you find, list and advertise your vacation rental home, condo or cabin and what website is the best rental site?

Some vacation rental web sites charge a listing fee and some are free. The real question is what advertising site is going to bring you bookings.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer
  • time for research
  • description of your rental
  • pictures of your vacation rental
  • a little creativity
  • about 20 minutes
  1. Step 1

Fire up that computer of yours and type in some key words that traveler type in when they search for advertisements for vacation rentals. Some popular phrases are "Book Tahoe Rentals" or "Reserve Maui Rentals" or "Reserve Gulf shores beach homes." Simply put yourself in the shoes of a renter and your research will be easier than you imagined. However, your research should not end there.

  2. Step 2

Now that you have a good idea what renters are finding when they are searching the internet for their next family vacation, it is important to open up many different sites that advertise vacation these rentals. This will help determine how your advertisement will present itself to your renters. Does the promotional rental website offer all the features a renter should know about your home?

  3. Step 3

    Before selecting a free or paid advertising website for your vacation rental you should consider the following features;
1.) How fast does the site load on your computer
2.) Are the navigation tools easy to use to locate other rentals in your area
3.) Does the site have a spam blocker for unwanted junk mail
4.) How does the page of other rentals present itself (i.e. descriptions, photos, mapping tools, amenity and policy layout and most of all the over all look and feel of the individual advertisement.

  4. Step 4

Once you determine based on your own research the perfect advertising website for your vacation renal you have to decide how much you are willing to pay for the ad. Typically, most free advertising sites are just as good as the paid sites. Remember, your research that you did on your own will help you decide just what is the best site to advertise on.

Tips & Warnings
  • TIP: Many owners simply DO NOT have the time to effectively promote and manage their vacation rentals. Using a "All-in-One" advertising and booking website portal is your ticket to freedom. Why? because these companies for a small commission work hard to bring renters to your door. Therefore, you don't have to. Vist: http://www.ReserveMyHome.com for more on this new type of advertising.
  • Perhaps the most important thing to consider when advertising vacation rentals is to only pay a listing site for the period of 6 months or at the most 1 year. The reason for this is pretty straight forward. Your credit card will automatically be charged $50 to $400 dollars when your listing expires. This is also a great opportunity to update your vacation rental advertisement if the site brought renters to your door step.
