Who said that barbecue sauce has to be red with a tomato base. This is one of my Mother's old time recipes for a savory sauce that gives your chicken a nice browned finish.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • oil
  • vinegar
  • salt
  • pepper
  • eggs
  • poultry seasoning
  • wire whip
  • basting brush
  • jar
  1. Step 1

    Combine:
    2 cups vegetable oil
    1 cup apple cider vinegar
    1/4 cup salt
    1 tablespoon black ground pepper
    1/4 cup poultry seasoning
    4 well beaten large eggs
With a wire whip mix all ingredients well.

  2. Step 2

Cut up your chicken, or purchase already done for you. Wash and drain. If you like Cornish hens this works great on them too. I'll cut them in half. So 2 hens will feed 4 people. The kids like this because they each can have a baby sized leg.

  3. Step 3

Heat up your grill. Use indirect heat. Will want to cook slowly. Place your chicken on the grill and baste with the clear barbecue sauce. Don't turn, baste chicken often while cooking. Grill until chicken is done. Save leftover sauce in a covered jar in the refrigerator for about 3 months.
