It is a common japanese tradition to rest your chopstick on the chopstick rest in between bites. If you are not using the chopstick to put food in your mouth, you should be putting it down. However, very few japanese restaurants provide such gadget nowadays. But don't worry, the material comes with the chopsticks that the do provide!! Follow this simple step-by step how to and learn to fold your own chopstick rest at any restaurant you go to and you never have to place your chopstick on the table again!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • individually wrapped chopsticks (the ones they provide at restaurants)
  1. Step 1

    Open the chopstick's paper wrapper by tearing one of the edges. Remove the chopsticks and save the paper wrapper.

  2. Step 2

    Fold the wrapper in half, making the left and right edges meet. Then, repeat the process.

  3. Step 3

    Now, fold it in half by making the top meet the bottom side (horizontally).

  4. Step 4

    Push in both edges to make a triangular edge that goes inwards. Finally, slight push in the top part right at the center to create a flat surface. This will prevent the chopsticks to roll off the rest.

Tips & Warnings
  • This trick only works with paper wrappers.
