Ever thought how cool it is to be able to watch your favorite internet streams, videos or even play your favorite game on your TV screen instead of your tiny 15" PC monitor? This article will show you how!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Proper S-Video Cable
  1. Step 1

Turn on the TV (if its not on) and turn off your desktop or laptop computer.

  2. Step 2

Hook up the S-Video cable to your TV via the S-Video port (Usually located at the front panel in latest TV sets). Connect the other end to your PC. See the warning section of this article for more details.

  3. Step 3

Turn on your PC & Right-Click on your desktop (on any empty area) and select properties => Settings => Display. When using Vista, you may want to go to Start => Control Panel => Display

  4. Step 4

Select your TV from the drop-down display menu. Hit "Apply" then "OK"

Now your TV will function as PC monitor! TA DA!!!!! Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • For a better sound quality and volume, use external (portable) speakers.
  • If you have an older PC, you may not have a port for S-Video cables. In this case, you may want to consult the store associate or customer service employee where you buy your S-video cable. Do that before you perform the entire process. Also, make sure your TV set has a port for S-Video input. This is a simplified process just to give you a basic idea how this works. The process maybe slightly different in other Windows systems and maybe uglier if you are using Mac or have a computer with a different style S-video port. One website I found very helpful is www.svideo.com
