How to Get Rid of a Yellow Jacket Nest

Yellow Jackets can provide nasty, painful stings to those unfortunate enough to be their victim. Yellow Jackets will swarm to attack humans. This can be very dangerous for those allergic to a Yellow Jacket sting. Never kill a Yellow Jacket anywhere near its’ nest because they release a chemical that will signal the other Yellow Jackets in the nest to attack. Yellow Jackets tend to build their nests in the ground.

Instructions

1. Find the Yellow Jacket nest. Watch the Yellow Jackets to see the point where they enter the ground and nest.

2. In the early evening, when the sun has gone down enough to provide some light, use a large clear glass bowl or fish tank with no leaks, place it upside down over the entrance to the wasp nest.

3. Push the glass bowl or fish tank slightly into the ground about ½ an inch to an inch.

4. Put dirt around the base of the bowl or fish tank to build it up about 2 inches. Replace dirt after a rainfall if necessary.

5. Place something heavy on top of the bowl or fish tank such as a potted plant to keep it from being accidently knocked over.

6. Leave the bowl in place for 3 to 4 weeks. The Yellow Jackets won’t have a way out of their nest and die.
