How to Do Stickman Animation on Your Computer
With all the sophisticated CGI software that is available to create stunningly realistic animations, it may seem a bit strange that people would still be interested in stickman (stick figure) animation, but the simplicity of the animation allows for straightforward messages that are very effective in things such as ads and humorous shorts. If you would like to make you own stickman animation, there is a simple freeware program called Pivot Stick Animator that you can use to do it.

1
Make a storyboard for your animation. You want to have a fully laid out plan for what you want your figure to do during the animation. A storyboard allows you to do this. It doesn't have to be great artwork, since this is not what will be in the animation. If you plan to have you figures speak during the animation, include cartoon talking bubbles above the heads of the stick figures in the storyboard.

Download the Pivot Stick Animator and install it to your system. Once it's installed, launch it. In main view, you have a single stick figure ready for posing. The figure is made up of simple parts such as the forearm, hand and head. Each of the separate parts has a red circle associated with the joint.

Select the first frame in the animation timeline. Reference your storyboard to see what pose the figure should be in. Now select the red circle associated with a joint you want to move. Use the mouse to drag the part where it needs to be. Do this with all the parts until the pose of the figure matches the storyboard's first frame.

4
Move on to the next frame in the timeline and position the figure to match the storyboard's second frame. Continue this until you have added all the frames of your animation. Now go to "File" and export your animation as an AVI file. And that's it.
