Sex is an intimate act and there are times when a guy is either unwilling to wear a condom or does not know how to use one. In these cases women still need to stay protected, but may not want to help the guy put on a condom. Luckily, there are female condoms or girl condoms available. These can be placed well before any intimacy and protect against sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy.

Things You'll Need:

  • Female condom
  • Lubrication
  1. Step 1

Lie down in a comfortable position, as trying to insert the condom while standing can prove to be rather difficult. Lie on your back on a bed or in a seated position on a chair or recliner. Getting into a comfortable and natural position like this will not only be more comfortable but will allow the girl condom to be inserted properly.

  2. Step 2

Lubricate the vagina with common over the counter lubrication such as KY jelly. This only needs to be done if you are having a hard time inserting the girl condom. Do not use too much lubrication; just use enough so that you are able to slip the condom into place. If the condom comes with lubrication then go ahead and use that otherwise you will have to purchase it separately.

  3. Step 3

Locate the ring towards the closed end of the condom. This is the ring on the opposite end of the open side and is built into the condom itself. This ring is flexible and will allow you to insert the condom and keep it in place during intercourse. If the ring is missing or broken you will need to get another condom as it will not function properly and could cause pregnancy or transmission of disease if used.

  4. Step 4

Pinch the flexible ring with the fingers on one hand so that the ring takes on an oval shape. With the fingers of the other hand spread the lips of your vagina open to ease insertion of the condom. Leave the condom as is when you remove it from the package, do not roll up the condom before inserting it as you want it to be extended.

  5. Step 5

Insert the closed sided ring area into the vagina and push it in until it is completely inside of the vagina. Think of it as placing a balloon on the inside and leaving just the opening of the balloon where you would blow to be exposed on the outside. All you want is the opening of the condom right on the outside of the vagina. This will allow intercourse to occur while remaining protected at the same time, once intercourse starts the male will place his penis into the opening of the female condom. After intercourse carefully remove the condom reaching in to pinch the inner ring to ease removal.
