How to Replace Sega CD Cases

Once a major player in the computer system world, Sega has focused solely on producing video games since discontinuing its last system, the SEGA Dreamcast, in 2001. Most non-cartridge-based SEGA games come in a case that resembles a CD or DVD jewel case. If you break or misplace your case at any time, you can easily replace it with a new jewel case.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the cover from the SEGA game case. If you wish to replace a DVD-shaped case, open the case and lay it flat, cover side up. This loosens the plastic around the cover art. Pull the cover out.

If you have a game in a CD-shaped case, open the case and remove the insert from the front of the case. Pry up the corner of the CD jewel case that holds the video game, and remove the rear display cover art.

    • 2

Open the replacement jewel case (you can purchase these at any large retail store). Pry up the CD-holding side of the case to expose the back side. Place the rear display cover art into the back of the case, and snap the CD holder back into place.

    • 3

Hold open the replacement case. Lay DVD-style cases flat on a table with the exterior of the case pointed up. Slide the cover art under the protective plastic of the case.

    • 4

Insert the instructions booklet into the inside front of the replacement case.

CD cases have grooves that keep the booklet in place.

DVD replacement cases have two protruding clamps on the inside for the same purpose.

    • 5

Snap the SEGA game into place, you've completed the replacement.
