Make a basic bracelet with pony beads and elastic. Pony beads are light, rounded, plastic beads. Pony beads come in all colors. They also come in metallic, clear, glitter, shaped, transparent colors and neon varieties. The beads are inexpensive and easy to work with because of the large hole in the middle. Pony beads work well for kids' crafts because they are easy to thread and easy to grip. Buy pony beads in single colors or multipacks.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thin elastic
  • Scissors
  • Bag of pony beads
  • Bowl
  • Hot-glue gun and sticks
  1. Step 1

Measure a piece of elastic long enough to go around the wrist loosely. Add an additional 2 inches. Cut.

  2. Step 2

Open the bag of beads and pour in a bowl to keep the beads from rolling around.

  3. Step 3

Thread the beads in any pattern. If you want a particular design in the center, thread the beads from both ends of the string. Leave 1 inch at each end of the elastic bead free.

  4. Step 4

Tie the ends with a tight double knot.

  5. Step 5

Plug in the hot-glue gun. Once glue drips out of the nozzle, use it to make a hot-glue dot at the end of each end bead and one on the knot. If the nozzle touches the bead, it may melt the plastic. Let the glue dry before wearing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Set the hot-glue gun on a plate or paper to catch dripping glue.
  • Hot glue can burn.
