Eyelets are those handy little metal rings found on corsets and many other types of clothing. While they look professional, it is actually really easy to attach an eyelet on your own, as long as you have the proper materials. Eyelets, also called grommets, are put in place with an eyelet or grommet setter. A eyelet setter is basically a hole punch for eyelets. They can be purchased fairly inexpensively at craft stores and make attaching eyelets simple.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eyelet setter
  • Eyelets
  1. Step 1

Place the eyelet in the eyelet setter. Make sure the eyelet is facing the proper direction per the manufacturer's guidelines.

  2. Step 2

Hold the eyelet setter over your garment where you want to place the eyelet. Make sure the fabric is in between the two sides of the eyelet setter.

  3. Step 3

Squeeze the eyelet setter firmly. Use both hands if the fabric is thick.

  4. Step 4

Release the eyelet setter. Make sure it punched a hole in the garment and the eyelet is secure. If not, press down on the eyelet setter again to secure the eyelet.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use an eyelet that matches the color of your fabric.
  • Do not set the inside of the eyelet on the outside of your garment. The outside of the eyelet is smooth metal while the inside is not.
