Things You'll Need:
- Internet
- Telephone
-
Step 1
First understand the pros and cons for each of the three standard approaches to repairing bad credit. Details for each are explained below.
-
Step 2
“Do it Yourself” – in my experience this is the least effective approach. Years ago it worked better but frankly this approach is a waste of time. I recommend you avoid paying for any ‘self help guides’ as you are far more likely than not to be throwing away the money you spend.
-
Step 3
Retain Legal Council – Yes this approach can be effective if you are lucky enough to find a good, skilled team. Lawyers can be well versed in credit law and can have specialists and streamlined systems that can move quickly to repair bad credit. However, obviously quality legal assistance comes at a steep price, and few people can really afford to pay for a top quality legal team.
-
Step 4
Specialty Credit Repair Services – This is my preferred solution and one that I’ve seen benefit many of my clients to repair bad credit problems both small and large. Be advised, however, that the majority of these credit repair service companies are bogus and simply out for your money. In fact, the FTC is currently cracking down on quite a few of them. Before you go this route you must make absolutely certain you are dealing with a reputable company that can provide real results and do not over charge! The Tips section details the components you need to insist upon.
